Google “Penguin” Update Enhancements
Easy WP SEO 1.7 now auto-selects SEO factors recommended in the wake of the Google “Penguin” update. To my knowledge at this time, it is the only on-page SEO plugin available that accounts for Penguin.
WordPress Multisite (WPMU) Support
WPMU users can now use the plugin on their network installations. Again, as far as I know, Easy WP SEO is now the only WPMU-compatible on-page plugin available.
Improved Language Support
Easy WP SEO 1.7 includes UTF-8 support so it works better with non-English languages. Characters found in languages other than English (such as Spanish, Swedish, Russian and Asian languages) are now recognized and processed correctly.
Other Easy WP SEO 1.7 Enhancements
- Now you can specify stop words to ignore in your key phrases. Words like “a,” “an” and “the” in key phrases can be ignored for the purpose of calculating SEO scores.
- Highlighting of LSI keywords already present in post/page content.
- Turn on or off the processing of content appearing between shortcodes
- Automatically specify the post/page keyword from the title, categories, tags, or the settings of other plugins, such as All-In-One SEO Pack.
- Proxy support for issues with local (loopback) HTTP connections.
- Ability to disable the plugin for certain post types. This comes in very handy when using certain other plugins that implement redirects through custom post types. Simple URLs is one example.
Upgrading to Easy WP SEO 1.7
If you’ve already bought Easy WP SEO, you can upgrade to version 1.7 by going to Easy WP SEO > Settings in the WordPress admin area. Then click either the “download” link (to upgrade manually) or the “upgrade automatically” link.
